The Jewish Theater of Austria is a platform for intercultural dialogue and the demystification of the unfamiliar through artistic exploration. Its work is not supported and is not "recommended" by the City of Vienna or the Federal Republic of Austria. Since its founding in 1999, every formal application for access to public theater funding has been denied by the hostile government office of culture, which controls the centralized budget for all theater companies in Vienna.

Dear Mr. Rosenzweig!
Your request for support for the project, "The Comical History of the Jew of Vienna" has been presented to the responsible curators of theater, dance, and performance for their evaluation.
The curators examined your application carefully and unfortunately came to the conclusion that the support of the City of Vienna is not to be recommended.
The Department of Culture of the City of Vienna is sorry not to be able to provide a positive answer and remains
With friendly greetings,
The Department Director
Dr. Bernhard Denscher
