When I first heard about the Nestroyhof Initiative I was completely shocked. How could it be that such a great contribution to Vienna’s cultural life and to its theater scene is being prevented? If there is a possibility to renovate this great theater and perform Jewish plays in there again? Why should there be any opposition to it? I simply couldn’t understand how the government of a city that claims to be a cultural capital, moreover a city of theater, can prevent the realization of such a project. But I’ve come to realize that it is a fact that this initiative has its opponents and that it will cost much struggle and sweat before there will be a Jewish theater in the Nestroyhof again.
