Founded in 1999, the Jewish Theater of Austria celebrates a decade of independent producing. The first company of its kind in Vienna since 1938, its bold and ambitious programming has never been “recommended” by any advisory committee of the Vienna Department of Culture, which controls the municipal theater scene through centralization of theater arts funding. The survival of the Jewish Theater of Austria over the years has been made possible by the generous support of numerous institutions, public and private, by independent sponsors, and the public.  |
