2009 // 10th ANNIVERSARY OF THE JEWISH THEATER OF AUSTRIA!


The Jewish Theater of Austria is a platform for intercultural dialogue and the demystification of the unfamiliar through artistic exploration.

Founded in 1999, the Jewish Theater of Austria celebrates a decade of independent producing. The first company of its kind in Vienna since 1938, its bold and ambitious programming has never been “recommended” by any advisory committee of the Vienna Department of Culture, which controls the municipal theater scene through centralization of theater arts funding.

The survival of the Jewish Theater of Austria over the years has been made possible by the generous support of numerous institutions, public and private, by independent sponsors, and the public.

of the Jewish Theater of Austria.

In December 2009, 70 years after the start
of WWII, the international festival "Culture
Capital of Europe Linz 2009" was drawing to
a close. Two Austrian students from the
"hometown of the Führer" pursue the
question, "Who was Adolf Eichmann?" in
public interviews in front of the house
where Eichmann was raised...

This is the first installment in a series of new
videos by the Jewish Theater of Austria on
themes of Austrian self-awareness.
